I am new to this whole blog thing, but have been following your 72 Topps posts with interest over the last month. I also got my first cards in 1972 in Niles, Michigan. I started collecting in earnest in 1977 and amassed a sizable collection by the time I left the country in 1992. I didn't do much else with card collecting until my first son was born 8 years ago. I have slowly eased back in, as finances have allowed. Anyway, I have doubles of two of the cards that are still on your list, Aker and Rooker. What is the best way to get them to you? I will actually be in Springfield in about ten days, as our family will be visiting my parents. Small world.
In 1972 I turned 8 years old and finished 2nd grade. I also started collecting baseball cards. Since then when I think about baseball cards, I compare everything to the 1972 set. As I journey through this set, come along for the ride and we'll also look at other sports, politics and the world at large as it was in 1972.
